NEWEST PROJECTS
Look what I just got! My niece was helping a family friend down size and she had these to give away. Of course I was glad to take them! Always love new projects added to my ever growing list of projects. So here they are:
2 TWIN SIZE
They need some mending and ironing.
24 BLOCKS
Pinks, green and reds size 8x8
PINWHEEL
Only have seven of theses and one lone block. Several are pretty stained. Oh well, that's just part of working with vintage blocks.
CRAZY BLOCKS
There are 22 blocks that measure 10 1/2 x 10 1/2.
AND THEN THERE WERE TWO
And last but not least...2 lone blocks. What to do...

And this is what I'm working on now. Slowly but surely.

You have a treasure trove Cindy. I see you are working on the Sunbonnet Sue too. I remember seeing those blocks with the interesting fabric choices. Can't wait to see these projects finished!

DeleteWow! You've hit the jackpot with these vintage pieces. Even if you never turn them into quilt projects, etc., it's great fun to look at the blocks and feel the texture of old fabrics. I enjoyed seeing your quilting frame; mine is the same style, just made at home by the farmer. Don't you find it's so much easier to put up a quilt in frames like these?
ReplyDeleteI was whittling my project shelf down, but not now!!! I do love vintage fabrics. There's a story to each one and oh my, sometimes wish I knew just a bit of it. How many people handled this, was this a dress, a beloved garment, or something you had to wear and never did like and was ever so glad to cut it up! I treasure each and every piece. I do love the quilt frame. It is easier and I have a bigger area to work on. Glad I bought it.
DeleteI love vintage fabrics, too! But, they are getting harder to find, so you really did "hit the jackpot" as lil red hen said. I recognize some of the same old fabrics in these pieces that are in an old, old quilt top that I bought at a yard sale several years ago. I am sure you enjoy having the quilting frame close at hand so you can steal a little time here and there for stitching. Remember, a day is not complete until needle, thread, and cloth meet! :~)
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, a day is not complete. For me sometimes it just touching my fabrics/blocks as I plan a project. I'm looking for a good book that dates fabric. I have a small one, but it just doesn't have enough samples pictures in it.
DeleteHow pretty is that Sun Bonnet Sue quilt you are making! How lucky you are to get the quilt tops and blocks and so glad they did not get thrown away!
